My name is Eddie Avelar. I am a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Alvis "Hound Dog" Solis in Houston Texas. I have been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since November of 2001. I have competed in Local tournaments as well as in California. All I have to show for my accomplishments is nothing more than memories. I do not keep my trophies, or worry about how many matches I have won or lost. My goal is like many other instructors, to share the art and spread Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I have a strong desire to pass on my knowledge and experiences to others that are in search for the gentle art. I have also been studying Kung Fu since May of 1992. I hold a rank of Sifu, 5th Degree Black Belt. After mixing both arts, I decided I wanted to see where I sat in the scheme of things. My next step was towards cage fighting. I took my first fight as a professional in November, 2005. I was 36 years old when I stepped into the local venue, Renegades. I came out victorious and have fought 3 more times after that. I have a winning record of 3 wins and 1 loss. I have learned so much and have had a great time doing it. I now own my own school and teach Mixed Martial Arts, KickBoxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Ground Dwellers is a great place to come, work out, get a good sweat on and leave with a smile. Even though I run my school, I still find the time to train
hard and compete in as many tournaments possible.
